Summer Training ’24/25

“The Effort Is the Reward”

Another training season completed!
As I reflect on the beginnings of this journey, I offer gratitude to my mind, body, and spirit for making the most of this earthly plane. Life is fleeting, and every day presents an opportunity to become the best version of ourselves.

Yet, the struggle can be very real. Accepting and embracing this, we do our best each day, one breath at a time.

Heading into the summer of 2024, I began planning and preparing for three months of consistent effort, with adequate rest factored in, of course. Like any grand undertaking, a solid plan greatly supports favorable outcomes: Plan, Review, Execute, Review, Complete.

I named my plan “Stan” and called upon an old friend for support. We are always stronger together! Ten years ago, I took functional training classes with Coach Marc—the rest is history.

This year, I was thrilled to have the opportunity again. Armed with new techniques and over a decade of functional training experience, a plan came to life. Personal bests (PBs) are great and worthy goals, indeed. But what about the journey? With practice and refinement, aren’t PBs just part of the process?

Let us begin.

Here’s a sample Tuesday and Friday Strength & Conditioning plan with a modified four-week intensity cycle (75% – 90% – 110%, de-load):

With full focus and refinement, the plan was adjusted to the flow of life, incorporating a variety of calisthenic exercises for balance and diversity.

A heartfelt thanks goes to my body, mind, and spirit for completing this journey, supported by plenty of rest, recovery, and self-care.
