Headed out to Mudgee to check out some of the blocs yonder..

Its always nice to go for a road trip 😊

The location was pretty easy to find & I was psyched to explore the area.

Heading off into the meadow, I skirted some running creeks and fallen trees & quickly found the boulder of interest, the Pore Boulder.

A super nice location & easy walk in, but..

Unfortunately the rock is rather terrible with each hold feeling like it would crumble beneath the faintest of exerted pressures, by all means probably an ok training area..

Allas I was here & thought I should at least climb one line..

I warmed up on the old trusty hangadoodle thingymagic.

The line I was most keen to try was ‘Directors Special’ V10.

I fondled the holds & ran through a series of sequences through my head for a good flash attempt.

Ready as ever I started from the (unclimbed) sit start, adding another couple of moves.

The sequence felt good as I moved my way up with confidence, as small pebbles and other rock chips came crumbling down.

As I was about to reach for the second to last right hand hold, the right side-pull came exploding off into many pieces, boom!

Was this to be the end of my session?

I inspected the remainder of the hold, which was now substantially smaller but still very useable.

After a short break (no pun intended) I geared up & swiftly latched the final holds & finished with a somewhat awkward mantle, as more bits and pieces crumbled off under the resulting interaction.
